Heads-up: This post contains my personal Revolut referral link. If you sign up through it and complete Revolut’s referral steps in time, Revolut pays me a referral reward. It costs you nothing extra, and I only recommend it because I use Revolut myself. This isn’t financial advice; check Revolut’s current fees and terms for your country before you sign up.
If you sell anything online, you’ve probably felt this pain: a client pays you in dollars, your bank pays you in euros, and somewhere in between a chunk of your money quietly disappears in exchange fees. Then you go to pay for a USD tool subscription and lose a little more.
That’s exactly the kind of problem Revolut helps with, and it’s why I’m sharing my Revolut referral link with you today.
In this post I’ll explain what Revolut is, why it’s handy for online entrepreneurs, and exactly how to sign up with my link and complete the four simple steps of Revolut’s current referral campaign. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes plus a few everyday purchases.
What Is Revolut?
Revolut is a mobile-first financial app with more than 80 million customers worldwide. Think of it as a bank account that lives in your phone: you get an account, a debit card (virtual and physical), multi-currency balances, instant transfers between Revolut users, budgeting tools and a lot more, all managed from one app.
In Europe, Revolut operates with a full banking licence, so it isn’t just a “prepaid card app” anymore. The basic plan (called Standard) has no monthly fee, and you can upgrade to paid plans later if you want extra perks. You don’t have to.
Why Revolut Is Useful for Online Entrepreneurs
Most “Revolut review” articles talk about travel. Travel is great, but here’s why I think it’s especially useful if you earn or spend money online:
- Hold several currencies. Keep EUR, USD, GBP and many other currencies in separate balances, and exchange between them inside the app at Revolut’s rate (fair-usage limits and weekend markups apply depending on your plan).
- Pay for tools in their own currency. Many marketing tools, hosting plans and software subscriptions are billed in USD. Paying from a USD balance can save you the conversion fees a traditional bank card often adds.
- Virtual cards for online shopping. Create virtual cards in the app for online purchases and subscriptions, and freeze or delete them whenever you like. Great for free trials you don’t want to forget about.
- Instant notifications and analytics. Every payment pops up on your phone immediately, and spending is grouped by category, so you can see exactly what your business tools cost each month.
- Fast money between people. Sending money to another Revolut user is instant, which makes paying freelancers or splitting costs with a partner painless.
You don’t need to close your current bank account. Many people use Revolut alongside their regular bank, as a smart “online spending and currency” account.
The Revolut Referral Campaign: How It Works
Revolut regularly runs “invite friends” campaigns. The current one runs until 17 November 2026, 20:59 GMT. For a new sign-up to count as a completed referral, Revolut asks the new customer to finish four steps before that deadline:
| Step | What you do | Time needed |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Sign up | Register through the referral link and verify your identity | ~5 minutes |
| 2. Add money | Top up your account by card, bank transfer, Apple Pay or Google Pay | ~1 minute |
| 3. Order a card | Order a physical Revolut card (you can use it digitally right away) | ~1 minute |
| 4. Make 3 purchases | Pay for 3 things of at least €5 each with your Revolut card | A day or two of normal shopping |
That’s it. No investing, no subscriptions, no paid plan required. Let’s go through each step so nothing trips you up.
Step-by-Step: How to Sign Up and Complete the Steps
Step 1: Sign up through the referral link and verify your identity
Open my Revolut referral link on your phone. It takes you to Revolut, where you enter your phone number and download the app. Important: sign up through the link rather than searching for the app yourself, otherwise the referral may not be connected.
Then verify your identity. Have your ID card or passport ready; the app asks you to photograph it and take a quick selfie. Verification is usually fast, but it can occasionally take longer, which is one more reason not to leave this until the last day.
Step 2: Add money to your account
Tap Add money and top up using a debit or credit card, a bank transfer, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You only need enough to cover your three purchases (so at least €15), plus the card delivery fee if your country has one.
Step 3: Order your physical card
Go to the Cards section and order a physical card. Delivery fees may apply depending on your plan and country, so check the price shown in the app before you confirm. The good news is you don’t have to wait for the post: you can add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and start paying with your phone straight away.
Step 4: Make 3 card purchases of at least €5 each
Use your Revolut card (virtual, physical, or via your phone wallet) for three purchases worth at least €5 each. The easiest way is to use it for things you’d buy anyway:
- Your weekly groceries or a coffee-and-cake stop
- Fuel or a public transport ticket
- An online purchase, an app store payment or a monthly tool subscription
Make them three separate payments of €5 or more. Revolut notes that some transaction types don’t count (for example, things like transfers to other people, cash withdrawals and similar non-purchase transactions are usually excluded), so stick to ordinary shop purchases.
Tips So Your Sign-Up Counts
- Start early. The deadline is 17 November 2026 at 20:59 GMT. Identity checks and card orders can take time, so don’t wait until the last weekend.
- Use the link, not the app store. Open the referral link first and sign up from there.
- You must be new to Revolut. Referral campaigns are for brand-new customers only.
- Check your country. Referral offers are country-specific. The page you land on and the in-app terms show what applies where you live.
- Read the terms in the app. Revolut’s referral terms and conditions are the final word on what counts, so give them a quick look.
Bonus: Invite Your Own Friends
Once your account is set up, you’ll find your own invite tile on the Revolut home screen or in your profile. Revolut often runs campaigns where you can earn a cash reward for each friend you bring in (my current campaign pays €60 per completed referral), so after you’ve tried the app, it’s worth checking what’s on offer in your account too. If you have an email list or a social following, that’s a nice little extra income stream.
Revolut Referral FAQ
Is Revolut free?
The Standard plan has no monthly fee. Some things can cost money, such as physical card delivery, currency exchange above your plan’s fair-usage limit or at weekends, and some ATM withdrawals above the free allowance. The app always shows fees before you confirm.
Is Revolut safe?
Revolut is a regulated financial institution. In the European Economic Area it holds a banking licence, and eligible deposits are covered by a deposit guarantee scheme up to €100,000. The app also has handy security features like instant card freezing, location-based security and disposable or virtual cards.
How long does it take to complete the referral steps?
Signing up, verifying your ID, adding money and ordering a card usually takes 10 minutes or so. The three purchases depend on your shopping, but most people finish within a day or two by paying for everyday things.
Do I have to wait for the physical card to arrive?
No. You need to order the physical card, but you can pay with your virtual card or add your card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and start spending right away.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. The free Standard plan is enough to complete every step. You can always upgrade later if you want extra features.
What if I already have a Revolut account?
Then the referral doesn’t apply to you, but you can still invite your own friends from the invite tile in your app.
